How to care for your succulent

Good news, succulents are relatively hard to kill and make perfect house and outdoor plants! Below are some tips on how to care for your succulent.

Plant in indirect light

Light

Succulents need bright, indirect light. They can tolerate direct sunlight, but too much can cause their leaves to burn, especially when wet. Keep them near a window or in a well-lit room.

Watering Can

Water

Succulents are drought-tolerant and don't need to be watered as frequently as other plants. Over-watering is one of the most common mistakes people make with succulents, so make sure the soil is completely dry before watering. A good rule of thumb is to water your succulent once every 1-2 weeks, depending on the climate and season.

Plant Soil

Soil

Succulents prefer well-draining soil that allows water to flow through easily. Make sure your pot has drainage holes and use a cactus or succulent soil mix that is designed to promote drainage.

Holding Thermometer

Temperature

Succulents prefer warm temperatures and can't tolerate frost. If it is cold, keep them in a room that stays between 15-29°C.

fertilizer

Fertilizer

Succulents don't need to be fertilized often, but you can give them a boost during the growing season (spring and summer) with a cactus or succulent fertilizer. Follow the instructions on the label and don't over-fertilize.

Planting a Tree

Potting

When re-potting your succulent, choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one and has drainage holes. Make sure the soil is dry before re-potting and gently loosen the roots before placing in the new pot.
